About Surprise, AZ

History
Founded in 1938, Surprise received its name because Flora Mae Statler would be surprised if the town would ever amount to anything. The city started out as one-square mile of land that eventually experienced growth in the years since. Incorporated in 1960, the city has since received multiple awards and recognition, including 2014 Top Ten Safest Cities in the US and the 5th Fastest Growing City in the Us in 2016.
